I got this so-called “enclosure”. It came with documentation for an external hard drive and pamphlets explaining how to use the non-existent “included” software. Suffice it to say that the rotten thing doesn’t have any accessable firmware and apparently is not intended to be used as an end-user serviceable enclosure at all. Might make a nice blinking paperweight as it sits here with my two beautiful Western Digital 1 TB hard drives in it doing nothing but blinking vague error messages and making a racket on the rare occasions it decides to stop incinerating the drives in the ventilation-lacking case and turn on the pathetic excuse for a fan. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM SIMPLETECH EVER.

    PRO: Nice looking box.

    CON: Doesn’t work

This Simpletech device is not really a distinct product, just a stripped down chassis from their “Duo-Pro” dual-disk external drive. There is no documentation on how to install drives into it, nor how to format them for the primitive ‘RAID’ functionality built into this box. After installing a disk into it in the most obvious way, the box just sits their blinking some kind of error. My computer does not recognize the device over e-SATA or over USB. Complete waste of time.
