I bought the Iomega Ego encrypt hard drive about a week ago. I saw this video on popular mechanics where they dropped this hard drive from 30 plus feet and then ran over it with a truck. To my amazement it worked. I was very excited to get this drive filling a sense of security. Well that ended fast as the hard drive will not work with ghost32, or Acronis True Image. The encryption will not allow all the sectors to be read before saving to it. I chatted with a tech from god knows where and told me that he can’t help because they will not support any other software then their own. I tried their software (EMC) and did not like it as much as what I had. The backup software falls short in many ways. The tech support person told me I could call Iomega at a fee of $25.oo dollars. This item is brand new and I have to pay to talk to a live person? So because of all this I have to give it only to Stars because it is ruggedness. But useless to me.
